Dr. Nicole Garneau is a behavioral neuroscientist, systems consultant with a keen eye on employee mental health and keynote speaker who brings science, equity and humor to the table. She is a CiviCO Governors’ Fellow of Colorado, was named one of the top five most influential young professionals in the state, and has been featured on TEDx Radio Hour, Day of Knowledge in Mexico City, and numerous podcasts. Armed with a PhD in genetics from Colorado State University, Dr. Garneau spent a decade leading the award-winning bilingual community and citizen science program, The Genetics of Taste Lab. She managed over $1M in grants as department chair for Health Sciences, while overseeing a large diverse team of staff and volunteers. A highlight of this work culminated in the documentary, The Untold Stories of STEM. Alongside activist, unifier, and filmmaker, Tyrone Beverly, they co-produced this NIH-funded film to highlight how diverse people from widely different backgrounds rose above barriers to thrive in their scientific careers. Her community work was intensive and reflective, ultimately leading her to question the path laid out for her. She left her prestigious, but linear and therefore limiting, career to see if there was more out there. Her inner deep dive led her to found The Soulful Scientist’s Guide to® where as a consultant and speaker, she marries facts-based science with soul-derived tools, to help others find meaning in their own inner work, communities, organizations, and lives. No shame, no guilt, just better days and more of them.
